On June 14, 2019, I attended the unveiling of my recent portrait commission. Roy Romanow was a delight to paint. Here we are, blocking the view, moments after the unveiling:


And here is Chancellor Romanow with the small sketch I painted before I made the larger version:


Behind the chancellor, in the portrait, is a wall of Tyndall Stone, which is used throughout the University of Saskatchewan campus.  I love the soft contrast between the limestone base and the fossils that appear throughout it. It makes quite a characteristic backdrop for my subject.

In September, 2018, I had a mastectomy to treat breast cancer. While I was recovering from the surgery, I painted a self-portrait. This is a detail. The full painting may be seen on my website.
